Dome install.
A planetarium-style dome ceiling for a science museum in our home city. Curved Orion XR cabinets, machine-cut to wrap an approximately 18 m radius with single-pixel-accurate seams.
The brief.
Replace a 1990s projector array with seamless, color-accurate LED. The architects insisted on single-pixel seam accuracy at any viewing position inside the dome. Existing dome geometry from a 30-year-old structure — no two cabinets could be the same shape.
The build.
Roughly 400 unique-radius cabinets, each cut from a 3D survey of the existing dome on our Houston CNC floor. Per-cabinet calibration data baked in firmware before shipping. On-site commissioning with a two-engineer Pisces team.
